Hanna Nelson says the English team had discussed additional support and remediation and asks what Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic interventions were available for students who still struggled with fundamentals.

Principal Lisa Cooper says MTSS would be the next task and that the school had many supports and resources but needed to align them to student needs, adding that data should justify and target whatever interventions were implemented.

Nelson says middle-school Lexile data appeared to show large reading-comprehension gaps between students entering regular English and honors classes and suggests examining disaggregated reading data later in high school. She presents that as an observation and hypothesis to investigate, not a completed district analysis.
