9050 Washington Boulevard Foreclosure Sale Chronology

2026-08-24 August-September 2026 Completed lender takeover reported; exact auction/closing chronology unresolved between August 24 and September 10 source accounts
At a glance

Contemporaneous sources agree that Fortress Investment Group took control of the former Sony Pictures Animation campus at 9050 Washington Boulevard through the 2026 foreclosure/trustee-sale process for roughly $71-$71.3 million, but they differ on the transaction date. Los Angeles Business Journal reporting published September 14 cites Los Angeles County records and a trustee's deed and reports an August 24 public auction for $71.3 million. Traded reports a September 10 closing for $71 million, and The Registry published September 10 that Fortress had taken the property through a $71 million credit bid. CCR preserves the date discrepancy rather than silently selecting one chronology.

Context note

Earlier CCR text treated August 24 as the completed sale date based on the September 14 Los Angeles Business Journal account, which says Fortress acquired the property at an August 24 public auction and cites county records and a trustee's deed. Traded instead gives September 10 as the closing date, while The Registry published September 10 that Fortress had taken the property through a $71 million credit bid. Culver City Crossroads reported yet another auction-date formulation, August 26. These may reflect auction scheduling, trustee sale and closing/recording stages, but no primary trustee/deed record reviewed in this pass reconciles them. CCR therefore preserves the discrepancy rather than inferring a single exact transaction date.
