CCHS English books and consultant-spending concerns
A September 2022 email chain begins with CCHS English teacher Dana Comiskey-Herrera opposing spending on a workforce-housing consultant and describing shortages of classroom books and deteriorating facilities. Board member Paula Amezola forwarded the concern to Assistant Superintendent Angela Baxter, who offered to contact the teacher and provide support.

Comiskey-Herrera wrote that CCHS English had aging books and too few copies of some core novels for every teacher to teach them at the same time. She also described falling ceiling tiles, vermin, reduced cleaning and aging facilities.
She argued that money proposed for a workforce-housing study would be better spent on school needs and said she preferred higher teacher salaries and direct consultation with teachers over district workforce housing.
Amezola asked Baxter how the book shortage could be addressed. Baxter replied that the district had offered to buy supplemental books at a prior meeting, had purchased Literal, and that she was willing to contact the teacher and help.
