The security section says campus security staff routinely enter restrooms to check for vandalism, maintenance issues, fights, inappropriate behavior and smoking, while student searches require an administrator and written report. The letter says contract security staff are not permitted to search students and that daytime officers would move to blue CCUSD polos and khaki pants to appear less police-like.
Facilities updates cover falling acoustic ceiling tiles, HVAC replacements, repaired high-school portables, restroom remodeling, custodial staffing and additional general-maintenance positions. The letter says replacing all acoustic tiles had previously been estimated at $600,000-$700,000, but staff were pursuing removal and other alternatives instead.
The letter also says the district would begin placing a recurring facilities-information item on Board agendas, with project lists, timelines and budgets posted publicly. In discussing the Brookwood property-exploration contract, Robert Quinn recommends using a Restricted Facility fund rather than the General Fund if the work moved forward.
