CCHS AP Physics C prerequisites and prior Physics or Honors Physics guidance
A June 2021 email and attached AP Physics C course sheet explain that the calculus-based course is designed as a second-year physics class and that taking it without prior Physics or Honors Physics is technically possible but strongly discouraged.

Teacher John Bakunin's attached 2021-22 AP Physics C sheet describes the course as calculus-based mechanics comparable to a college freshman science or engineering course and intended to prepare students for the AP Physics C Mechanics exam.
The guide says students should be comfortable with algebra, geometry, trigonometry and calculus and that AP Physics C builds on material and skills learned in Physics or Honors Physics. It states that students may technically enroll without that background, but doing so is strongly discouraged because the expected prior material will not be retaught.
The document also describes the workload as college level and very challenging, with typical homework expected to take 60 minutes or more per lesson, and requires completion of a summer assignment before the school year begins.
